Our goal is to educate the families and grow the children’s capabilities beyond regular school curriculum.
Clinical Services
Harmony House is pleased to offer in-home ABA treatment programs for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome and PDD NOS. Each child’s treatment program is based on individual assessment and identified goals which are generated in collaboration with the family and routed in the science of applied behaviour analysis. Programs are designed to address not only language development, cognitive skills and academics, but also includes school readiness skills, play, social skills, self care and most importantly generalization.
Various monthly clinical supervision models are offered and reviewed with families during our intake process.

Harmony House is pleased to announce the addition of social skills groups to the services we now offer. These are groups designed for children ages 5-12 and we offer various levels of focus; Beginning Conversation, Social Squad – Detectives, Social Squad – Superflex, Social Squad – Power Hour.
Emphasis is on building social skills in all children. The curriculums used are designed to breakdown social awareness in self and others and identifying key elements of the social codes present among children. These groups are designed to be small in numbers to provide all participants with the one-to-one attention they may require. The groups do utilize many of teaching principles, including those designed by Michelle Garcia Winner.
We have successfully completed our second year and will be embarking on year three of these groups come fall. Individual home-based assessments are provided for all families interested.
*Details for fall group dates and costs coming soon!

GLM – Girls Like Me Meet-up
The objective of this group is to provide a safe and open environment for young girls to fosterfriendships and address the unwritten social code they encounter as adolescents on a daily basis.
Areas of focus will include addressing issues that arise for adolescent girls including; boys, friendships and social interactions with peers, self-esteem building, ‘fitting-in,’ how outward is reflected by others, etc… All areas will be presented in both individual and group exercises and will encompass an overriding theme of SOCIAL THINKING and how it relates to peer interactions, as well as EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING. This group is offered from September -June.
Learning Club
Learning club was developed with the idea of providing a social environment for children that otherwise are not attending a ‘traditional’ type school. The club setting at Harmony House allows children to work alone on individual skills as well as hone their group work as they gather together and explore exciting monthly themes. Provincial learning outcomes are supported in the themes while adapting the work in order for the children to truly embrace and understand each concept. Many ways of sharing the outcomes of the themes are developed including having the children formally present to their parents at the end of each unit. Learning club runs from September-June on a daily basis.
Boys About Town: Summer Camps 2011

Each week offers both centre based and community based components to enable participants the opportunity to generalize social skills targeted. Please see PDF for detailed information!
